PlanMyCareer.ai ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, safeguard, and retain your information when you use our platform, consistent with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your name, email, phone number, and password. During onboarding, we collect your class/stage, stream, interests, city, school/college, and career preferences.

Assessment Data: If you take our Career Quiz, we store your answers and results (such as your interest profile and Holland Code) to personalise recommendations and counselling.

Usage Data: We collect analytics events such as page views, search queries, feature usage, and interaction patterns to improve the platform.

Booking Data: When you book counselling, we collect session preferences, intake notes, and payment information (processed securely via Razorpay — we never store your card or UPI credentials).

Chat Data: Conversations with our AI assistant (on the website, and on WhatsApp if you message our business number) are stored to provide the service, maintain safety, and improve responses.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide personalised career guidance, process bookings and payments, send notifications about your sessions (including on WhatsApp where you have shared your number), generate recommendations, improve our platform, and communicate important updates. We do not use children's data for behavioural tracking or targeted advertising.

Children & Guardian Consent

Many of our users are students under 18. In line with the DPDP Act, users identified as minors require verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian before purchasing paid services. Guardians may review or withdraw consent at any time by contacting us; withdrawing consent may limit access to paid features.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), encryption of sensitive personal fields at rest, secure password hashing (bcrypt), role-based access controls, and secure payment processing via Razorpay.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with: Razorpay for payment processing, your assigned counsellor for session preparation, our infrastructure and communication providers (such as video-call and messaging services) strictly to deliver the service, and analytics tools for platform improvement.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, comply with legal obligations (for example, tax records linked to invoices), resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. When data is no longer required, it is deleted or anonymised.

Your Rights

You can access and update your profile data from your dashboard settings. You may request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or complete deletion of your account and associated personal data by writing to us. We respond to verified requests within a reasonable time as required by law.

Cookies

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences, and limited analytics to understand product usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect core functionality.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified on the platform. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
